On Thursday, August 21, Consul General Yo Osumi and Mrs. Misao Osumi held a reception on the occasion of the end of his tenure in San Francisco.
During the program, Consul General Osumi expressed his deep appreciation for the connections he made during his time in San Francisco. Distinguished guests shared their memories with Consul General and acknowledged his contributions to strengthening the ties between Japan and the US. The speakers included Vanessa Hatakeyama (Executive Director of the Japanese American Museum of San Jose), Yuki Nishimura (Co-Chair of the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival), Jeremy Kitchen (Japanese Language Teacher at Lynbrook High School), Del Norte County Supervisor Chris Howard, Maki Kaplinsky (Co-Founder, Chair/COO of ASKA), Koki Uchiyama (Former CEO of Hottolink), Professor Yasunori Nomura (Director of the Center for Theoretical Physics at UC Berkeley), and California State Assemblymember Catherine Stefani. San Francisco Chief of Protocol Penny Coulter, and Jim Coulter (Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of TPG Inc.) gave the toast. In addition to the heartfelt words shared by the speakers, Consul General Osumi was honored to receive official recognition from California State Assemblymember Catherine Stefani, California State Senator Dave Cortese, California State Senator Scott Wiener, Mountain View Mayor Ellen Kamei, San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan, and the city of Cupertino. The reception was also attended bySanta Clara County Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga, Millbrae Mayor Anders Fung, Pinole Mayor Cameron Sasai, Santa Rosa Mayor Mark Stapp, Former Mayor of Los Altos Lynette Lee Eng, and Former Mayor of Palo Alto Lydia Kou.
Consul General Osumi and the Consulate-General of Japan in San Francisco would like to thank all individuals and organizations of Central & Northern California and Nevada who have supported him during his tenure in San Francisco as he worked to fortify the bonds of friendship between Japan and the US!
