Prof. Ryo Sahashi of the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia at the University of Tokyo, gave talks on the U.S.-China relations, the international order and Japan’s strategic vision during his recent visit to the San Francisco Bay Area.
On Thursday, September 11, his program was held at the NTT One Campus in Sunnyvale, hosted by Mr. Kazu Gomi, President & CEO, NTT Research, Inc., and Ms. Suzanne Basalla, Partner, Geodesic Capital, in partnership with the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco. It was attended by about 30 people including many members of the Silicon Valley business community.

Then on Friday, September 12, the UC Berkeley Center for Japanese Studies (CJS), Japan Society of Northern California, and the Consulate cohosted an event on the UC Berkeley campus attended by about 70 people, including many students and scholars. Moderated by Prof. Junko Habu, CJS Chair, the program opened with remarks from Consul General Kotaro Otsuki, followed by Prof. Sahashi’s talk and a discussion with Prof. Steven Vogel, Director of the Political Economy Programs of UC Berkeley.
