On Sunday, October 5, the 20th Millbrae Japanese Culture Festival was held in Millbrae. Consul General Kotaro Otsuki joined the opening ceremony, along with Millbrae Mayor Anders Fung and President of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors President David Canepa. Consul General Otsuki congratulated Festival Chair Kathleen Kimura and the Festival Committee for their dedication over the past 20 years in organizing this event. He also expressed his deep appreciation for how Japanese culture has taken root in California, in part thanks to grassroot activities like this festival.

Japanese cultural performances including taiko drumming, martial arts, and traditional dance were held onstage. At the Consulate’s booth, information was provided on tourism in Japan, study abroad programs, and the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program.
