Consul General Otsuki’s visit to southern Nevada

From October 9 to 10, Consul General Kotaro Otsuki visited Las Vegas in Nevada for the first time in his tenure as Consul General of Japan in San Francisco.

On Thursday, October 9, the Consulate hosted a gathering of U.S. servicemembers and community representatives in Las Vegas to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the Japan-U.S. Mutual Cooperation and Security Treaty, and ongoing support of U.S. Forces Japan. The evening included comments by Consul General, a presentation by Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama on cultural, economic, and security ties between Japan and the State of Nevada, and a demonstration of Ryukyu Matsuri Daiko organized by the Las Vegas Okinawa Club.

On Friday, October 10, Consul General met with Nevada State officials including Lt. Governor Stavros Anthony and Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) Executive Director Thomas Burns to discuss the relationship between Japan and Nevada, as well as new opportunities for future cooperation. Consul General also visited Konami Gaming’s Las Vegas office and learned about the company’s major role in the international gaming market.
