Consul General’s Commendation Awarded to Urasenke Foundation San Francisco at Hatsudate Chakai

On Sunday, January 11, Urasenke Foundation San Francisco hosted its annual “Hatsudate Chakai” or first tea gathering of the new year, at its tearoom in San Francisco’s North Beach. Consul General Kotaro Otsuki joined the event and presented Urasenke Foundation with the Consul General’s Commendation for its efforts in promoting friendship between Japan and California through its activities with tea and education making the tradition accessible to a wide range of audiences. Urasenke Foundation Director Christy Bartlett accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
