Consul General’s Commendation awarded to Chado Urasenke Tankokai SF Association

On Sunday, January 25, Chado Urasenke Tankokai San Francisco Association hosted its annual “Tatezomeshiki” or first tea gathering of the new year, atHokka Nichi Bei Kaikan’s tearoom in San Francisco Japantown. Consul General Kotaro Otsuki enjoyed koicha (thick tea) and usucha (thin tea) and at the luncheon that followed, presented the Consul General’s Commendation to the Association for its efforts promoting friendship between Japan and California through its activities with tea, contributing to the spread of Japanese culture. The Association’s Vice President Allen Okamoto and Secretary-General Hitoko Hagiwara accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
