Consul General Otsuki Attends NTT Research’s Upgrade 2026

On Wednesday, April 15, Consul General Kotaro Otsuki attended NTT Upgrade 2026, an exhibition showcasing the technologies developed by NTT Research, an R&D subsidiary of Japanese communications giant NTT, Inc. Inside the exhibition hall, the Consul General viewed NTT Research’s next-gen innovations, in clean energy, medtech and more. In particular, NTT highlighted their Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) initiative, a new type of all-photonics based communications infrastructure that aims to revolutionize the industry.
After touring the expo hall, Consul General Otsuki joined a networking reception, where NTT Research President Kazuhiro Gomi and Supervisor Otto Lee, President of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, gave remarks. Afterwords, the Consul General led the audience in a toast, expressing a hope for NTT to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation as it becomes an “AI-First” company.
