Foreign Minister’s Commendation Awarded to Japanese American Museum of San Jose at Summer Sake Event

Remarks by Consul General Otsuki and Ms. Hatakeyama
On Saturday, August 15, Consul General Kotaro Otsuki attended the annual Summer Sake tasting event hosted by the Japanese American Museum of San Jose (JAMsj) and presented the museum with the 2025 Foreign Minister’s Commendation. The museum received this recognition for its dedicated efforts to foster mutual understanding between Japan and the United States as well as its significant contributions to promoting goodwill between the two nations. JAMsj Executive Director Vanessa Hatakeyama accepted the commendation on behalf of the museum.
Also in attendance were Santa Clara County Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga, San Jose City Councilmembers Anthony Tordillos and Rosemary Kamei, and numerous San Jose Japantown community leaders and representatives. The event featured samplings of Japanese sake and other beverages from local breweries and distributors along with entertainment by San Jose Taiko.
