Foreign Minister’s Commendation

September 24, 2026 — Today, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation. Among the honorees is Mr. Shinichi Seino, Chairman of the Board of Kinmon Gakuen. Mr. Seino is being recognized for his distinguished contributions promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the United States.
 
Mr. Shinichi Seino has dedicated himself to the operation of Kinmon Gakuen, carrying forward its legacy of Japanese language and cultural education, and contributing to the development of the San Francisco Japanese American community. Mr. Seino has served in the past as President of Japantown Merchants Association, Co-Chair of Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival, and President of Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California, and is also currently active in the community as President of the Omotesenke Domonkai Northern California Region.  
 
The Foreign Minister’s Commendation honors individuals and organizations with particularly outstanding achievements in various fields that contribute to international relations. The commendations recognize those who have made significant contributions to the friendship and goodwill between Japan and other countries, while also encouraging broader public understanding and support for their activities across all sectors of society.
