Message from Consul General Kawamura on the occasion of the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan
2022/2/23

In more normal times, I would host a reception at my home to celebrate the occasion; however, we have sadly decided to refrain from gathering due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, the City and County of San Francisco raised Japan’s national flag at City Hall to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s birthday. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the City, Mayor London Breed, staff members, and participants.
In California and Nevada, the number of new COVID-19 cases has been declining since the peak of the Omicron variant’s spread at the beginning of January. Although gradual easing of COVID restrictions is under way, we still cannot fully let down our guard. As Consul General, I will continue to lead my office to ensure the continued availability of Consular services; to support Japanese enterprise; and to further strengthen the ties between Japan and Northern and Central California and the State of Nevada. To stay informed about our work, please follow the Consulate’s website and Facebook page, which are regularly updated with our office’s activities.
I would like to conclude with my sincerest wishes for the good health and prosperity of all.
