Meeting with Governor Brown & Opening Ceremony for High Speed Rail Exhibit at California Railroad Museum

On November 19, several Japanese diet members had a meeting with Governor Brown about the California High Speed Rail project and the features of Japanese High Speed Rail, also known as Shinkansen. Mr. Junzo Yamamoto, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, was in attendance along with Mr. Masaji Matsuyama, Vice Chairman of the Japan-California Parliamentary Friendship League. Other members of the league (Mr. Yasutada Ono, Mr. Seishi Baba, Ms. Mizuho Onuma, and Mr. Iwao Horii) and Consul General Jun Yamada also attended.

Later that day, the Japanese delegation also attended the opening ceremony for the High Speed Rail exhibit hosted by the California Railroad Museum in Sacramento. Vice Minister Yamamoto and the Executive Director of JR East, Mr. Takao Nishiyama, made speeches to celebrate the opening of the Shinkansen simulator exhibit. The exhibit will help raise awareness of the Shinkansen in California.
