Emperor's Birthday Celebration

On December 9, Consul General Jun Yamada hosted a reception at his official residence in celebration of the Emperor of Japan's birthday on December 23rd. Nearly 350 guests were in attendance, including state and local leaders from various fields, representatives from the local Japanese community, and members of the Consular Corps.
The program began with the American and Japanese national anthems. Consul General Yamada then expressed his gratitude to all the guests for their support in making the year 2015 fruitful for California-Japan relations, as well as his hope for an even stronger relationship throughout 2016. Lastly, California State Assemblymember Phil Ting offered a toast.
Throughout the residence, beautiful ikebana flower arrangements were displayed. Guests also enjoyed special displays for the Shinkansen as well as booths from various regions of Japan including Sakai City and Fukushima Prefecture.
