New Year’s Cocktail Reception in Nevada

On Thursday, January 21, Consul General Jun Yamada, together with Honorary Consul General in Las Vegas Kathleen Blakely, hosted a New Year’s celebration in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Over 90 guests joined the reception, including Nevada State Assembly Speaker John Hambrick, Nevada State Assemblymember Paul Anderson, representatives of state and local governments, representatives of local Japan-affiliated companies, members of community organizations, and educators.

In his remarks, Consul General Yamada expressed appreciation for the efforts and hard work performed by all the guests to promote Nevada-Japan relations in various ways, and across so many different fields. Following the Consul General’s comments, Speaker Hambrick gave his remarks. After the Speaker’s remarks, representatives from the offices of U.S. Senator Harry Reid, Congresswoman Dina Titus, Congressman Joe Heck, and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman presented certificates to Consul General Yamada.

Several posters were displayed around the room to introduce and promote Japanese culture and travel to Japan. Guests enjoyed live music performed by Ninjazz while partaking in refreshments and engaging in lively conversation for the remainder of the evening.
