School Visit Program at Harker Middle School
2017/3/16
On Monday, February 29, two staff members from the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco visited the Harker Middle School in San Jose to give presentations to two Japanese classes. The first presentation was to the 6th grade Japanese class on the culture of origami and was followed by a demonstration where the students participated in making a kabuto. The second presentation was to the 8th grade class on Kabuki. Following the presentation, the students were shown how to play a simplified version of the Japanese card game, karuta, in hiragana using simple Japanese words and pictures. They really enjoyed this game while it helped them to review the hiragana and vocabulary that they learned in class.
