“Nihonmachi: The Place to Be” and Consul General’s Commendation

On Sunday, March 6, Consul General Jun Yamada attended a production of the play, “Nihonmachi: The Place to Be”, at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC), produced in partnership with the San Francisco Japantown 110th Anniversary Planning Committee, in honor of San Francisco Japantown’s 110th anniversary. “Nihonmachi” tells the story of a fictional Japanese American man and the generations of. The theater had a full house with around 250 audience members in attendance.
Prior to the performance, Consul General Yamada gave words expressing the historical importance of San Francisco Japantown and admiring its longevity of Japantown. And taking this opportunity, Consul General Yamada presented his commendation to Mr. Hiroshi Kashiwagi, a poet, playwright, and actor, for his many years involved in the arts telling the story of Japanese Americans.
