Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun for Mrs. Kathleen Kimura, MBE

On Thursday, March 10, Deputy Consul General Nobuhiro Watanabe hosted a conferment ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, for Mrs. Kathleen Kimura, MBE. At the beginning of the ceremony, Deputy Consul General Watanabe gave an overview of Mrs. Kimura’s contributions of fostering the region’s understanding of Japan for over 30 years，before presenting her the award and the accompanying certificate. This was followed by the presenting of a proclamation to Mrs. Kimura by Millbrae City Manager Marcia Raines. Lastly, former United States Ambassador to Japan Michael Armacost led a toast in her honor. In all, over 70 people attended the ceremony to celebrate this special occasion for Mrs. Kimura.
