Remarks by headmaster Kokusei Ara
On June 12, 2016, Deputy Consul General Nagayoshi attended and gave remarks at the 55th Anniversary gala of the Kokuseiryu Shigin Kai SF Chapter. More than 120 guests attended the celebration, including the headmaster Kokusei Ara and members from Japan, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Seattle and Vancouver. The Kokuseiryu Shigin Kai was started in the Manzanar Japanese American internment camp during World War II. Now many members inherit, sustain, and enjoy this traditional poem reading performance in the United States, Japan, Canada, and Brazil.
