On Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, in partnership with New People, will host a number of events focused on Japanese language and culture at the 2016 J-POP SUMMIT FESTIVAL.
This year’s J-POP SUMMIT will introduce and feature fashion, music, design, anime culture, ramen and sake at the RAMEN SUMMIT and SAKE SUMMIT, Japanese travel at the Travel Pavillion, Japanese cutting-edge technology at Interactive Zone.

J-POP Idol Karaoke Contest (Finals)

Date and Time: Sunday, July 24; 1:30PM– 2:30PM
Location: Fort Mason Center Main Stage
Overview: A karaoke contest will be held in joint sponsorship with New People for young people interested in Japanese Language. This singing competition will be held between finalists selected based off of internet-based qualifying rounds.
Tea Ceremony Demonstrations

Date and Time: Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24; (1) 12:00PM- 12:30PM, (2) 2:45PM- 3:15PM
Location: Travel Pavilion Stage, Fort Mason Center
Overview: As part of the allure of Japanese travel, these Japanese tea ceremony demonstrations will introduce visitors to the hospitality and charm of traditional Japanese culture.
These demonstrations will be held in partnership with the Urasenke Foundation (July 23) and the Omotesenke Domonkai (July 24)
Consulate Information Booth
Date and Time: Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24; 11:00AM– 5:00PM
Location: Fort Mason Center
Overview: In addition to introducing Japanese culture, travel, and food, the information booth will have information on the JET Program, studying abroad in Japan, and other interesting topics.
