On Thursday, December 8, Dr. Tomohiko Taniguchi, Special Advisor to the cabinet of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, participated in “Ashes to Gold: How the 1964 Olympics Transformed Japan and Lessons for 2020”, a special program hosted by the Japan Society of Northern California. Dr. Taniguchi delivered a keynote speech about Japan’s postwar reconstruction and development and the impact of the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 on Japan’s future. Afterwards, Dr. Taniguchi participated in a panel discussion with Dan Rather (former anchor for CBS evening news) and local experts.
